That is interesting, indeed, both the 'pitted hub' and the stamp. From what I understand, there weren't many Viscount/Lambert hubs that didn't come with cartridge bearings. Strange that the bearings would wear through the hub shell. If it's not the bearings I wonder what could have caused the damage.

Yeah I'm pretty positive they haven't worn through. But I've also never seen pitting on a hub before.
So I'm trying to look for tires for the Pro, but I can't find or see what size is. I'm sure they're 27 x 1 1/4.

Yep, that's correct. You can find tyres relatively easy. I've been riding around on dead cheap tyres (I think a pair for 10 or so) from eBay, but I don't use the bikes for any sportive events. Just for commuting and riding on my days off. Good value for money are Schwalbe Active tyres as they roll really well, look nice, and have a puncture protection layer in them.

I've been looking at Panaracer Pasela or Kenda K35 tires. Both seem to have relatively good reviews but the K35's are cheaper.

The Paselas are great, too. I run them on my Sport. No idea about the K35, but I'd always give them a try.

A vote here for the Paselas as they have the tan sidewalls that look right on vintage bikes. Michelin has a series called Dynamic Classic with tan sidewalls, but they may be only available in 700c.

Vittoria Zaffiro tires look to be a good tire, as well, but they don't come with gumwalls. Or, onion skin tires haha

As I said, my favourite ones are Schwalbe Active and Paselas. I also have those cheap and cheerful Raleigh ones on my G.P. and had some other cheap ones in the past on my blue Sport. The rear needs changing now, after a year, but they served me well.

That's weird, on this side of the pond there's a line of Active tires from Schwalbe but not just a single tire with that name. I will look into those more. Those Raleighs are really cool!

Does anyone know if there is a place to find information on the paint colors? I wanted to paint the Tange fork half black and wanted it to match the black on my Pro.

I guess you mean the colours used by Viscount. The common view is that the company only used commercially available colours and didn't have their own made up. So it should be possible to identify the colours on one of the standard colour charts - perhaps most likely is the RAL chart. However, as far as I know this has only been done for a couple of Viscount colours.

Yeah factory color or just whatever color anyone found to be the closest. I figure someone along the way has painted some part of their Viscount and found what works.
I would go with just a basic gloss black, but nowadays there are hundreds of shades of black.

Bumping this thread, pretty informative. I saw a Viscount Aerospace on the web, Craig's List Minneapolis, Lambert is stamped in the proprietary porthole crank. I'm not sure if I have noticed that before. minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/bik/5313721789.html (a bike in good shape, looks like they lost the head badge decal). Looks like the link may be weak but here is the pic, I will save a copy too: Area 54 is Nevada btw. I will also look at the hubs, curious situation. I like looking at this website posted as well, "reciclone". www.reciclone.com, all of these Italian stickers, a few Spanish items and among all of those, they have BSA, that's interesting. Some decent caps there. www.reciclone.blogspot.com/ An old BSA, 1932 in the blog for November, outstanding bike, I did ride 3 speeds for a spell, they are great in that. The store admittedly sells a limited amount of items; but a lot of good info there.
