Ok; I heard back from farm camp site - delay was due to the 'main man' busy with lambing.
I don't think it is going to work out.
They wouldn't give over the whole site to us solely for DFR usage. They would be willing to offer another field that is usually full with sheep. Drawback is it has literally no facilities, it's just a field, with sheep droppings. (only positive I can see is that it would be v cheap and the farm shop cafe is top notch)
I have 2 other camp sites that I know in that area, but slightly closer to Burton. One has all the facilities (electric hook up , showers etc) but not sure how they would be able to group us all in one area and then accommodate extra cars etc - but I will go and meet face to face and see what they can do. It might require advance bookings, its a popular one. If that doesn't work out then there is another one I drive past now and again - quiet and small but can't see on line if they have showers and electric and take tents.
Both have great rides around about them in quiet and fairly flat countryside.
Alternatively, if anyone spots a venue nearer to SSW of Brum, then feel free to investigate.
In summary - we need a place that accepts tents and motorhomes, will also allow parking for day visitors on Saturday, has showers as a bonus, has a pub on site or nearby, and is cheap!

I've stayed at Forest Side farm a number of times. It is great and a perfect set up. I will get on to them tonight. Only issue I foresee is that they are often booked up ( it's only a small site). We would have to commit to booking asap if it's available.

Lichfield good - accessible by train from these parts - London Midland train to Milton Keynes then Crewe-bound train to Lichfield Trent Valley takes hour and three quarters from Watford Junction. I did that to DFR1.
