I thought I'd start a new thread for this as the other one was vey long. So, one idea last year was to sort of 'combine' DFR3 and Eroica as one event. Now people know the cost, and availability of that event , it isn't really going to happen as a joint meet up, and it excludes quite a large number of folks too. I'm viewing Eroica as a warm up for the real Rally of Lambert and Viscount vintage bicycles! The good news is that there is more than one Saturday in the summer that most of us can go for a bike ride. So, we can start to plan and get some dates for the diary, if people want it? I must start off by saying that I am happy to travel more than a few miles from home this year but am also happy to help with routes, places to stay etc if it's somewhere Midlands based that I vaguely know. The only dates that I can't do are Sat 23rd May; Eroica weekend (19th -21st June), then Sat 25th and Sun 26th of July. EDIT- If you missed the news on the other thread, Sprockit has created 'Team Viscount' for Eroica event at Bakewell and you can get the PIN to join it by PM'ing him. It costs nothing over and above your usual entry fee.

I'm with you on that Jem,the only date I can't make is our soap box derby week end, guess what, not confirmed yet!!! Pulls hair out(what's remaining),and starts to think about a bit of arse kicking in Warwickshire.Difficult whilst living in Whiltshire! As much as I'd love to do the Eroica,it's just a bit over priced for retired old gits like me,who also have a fair distance to travel, and provide accomodation, etc. Now for the proper ride,DFR3,I 'm happy to travel to where ever, this is the important ride of the year. Not too many hills please, and, prefarably,no cow crap for my shorts! Put mud guards on since last year! Cheers, Pete.

Might have been fun to watch, but I'm away a fair bit of June.
As for DFR3, 11th or 18th of July would be good for me ( or after those dates if they don't suit others ).

I'd certainly like that, but it's whatever everyone else can do really.

That seems to be ok for me at the moment.I'll put it on the callender as a potential night or two under canvas. Can someone have a word with the rain god. Please devize a route that doesn't involve crossing cattle used roads!!!!! Cheers, Pete.

Shouldn't matter about cow deposits in the road now should it Pete?
Thought you'd put mudguards on the bike.

Only a few weeks ago, I was not far from the aforementioned back road that was covered in slurry. I was kicking myself because I realised there was a right turn at that junction that would have not only bypassed the cattle road, but taken us down a hill to a beautiful little village with a church called Newborough. I know the road so well but somehow 'forgot' when planning the route. Ah, regrets, I have a few, but then again, too few to mention...

Sadly 18th July is no good for me That's the only date/weekend I have anything planned for so far. As for what time off is available from work it's likely to be hit & miss anyway. DFR3 is of course my most anticipated event of the year!!

Jem, is there any way of sending emails to all of last years attendee's asking if the 11th suits them? Just in case some are infrequently on here / have a real life.

11th of July is fine for me, too. It would be good if we could confirm it asap so I can take the day off at work.
So excited to meet you all again, and to see the bikes, of course.

Erm, I can't remember if I had emails. I guess if you mail Steve, then we do a roll call on here and message up on CTC etc - should be enough?

I think if people are keen, they'll watch the boards and will therefore know the date. I know that Rod (I think is his name) is keeping in touch with Steve re the rally, and he then tells his friend (forgot the name, I'm afraid).

11th July OK with me. Count me in. It will allow me to plan around that weekend.
I am not fussed about location, quite willing to travel but midlands would be good.

I've put in a holiday request for the 11th so fingers crossed. Would probably have to be a train on the day for me - I'll have to ride to a later one!

Yay, sounds like it's a date, then. Lewis, tell 'em that's a matter of life and death that you come to the rally, or tell them I'll come round with my boxing gloves. :-P
