Corsair Wayfarer isn't really a very snappy name for a bike is it? I quite like it's quirky-ness but it's not like anything else in the Viscount line up at the time is it? (the name , not the bike, that is)
Maybe they thought it just doesn't 'work' as a top tube decal? But, again, it's another example of the unusual and unique Viscount marketing strategy.

Is that the definite model designation?

Is that the definite model designation? Kind of a catch22 situation here isn't it? If they didn't badge it up with the model name, then a definitive 100% identification would quite difficult. I suppose it corresponds with Dracco's model which gives it validity. My last thought on the matter is that I have never seen the 18ax (mine is 18axDeore, same frame as yours but completely different group set) and therefore, could there be a slight question mark over it being one of those? Have you had a really close look at Foss's posts? His has similarities with yours.

Hold on here! I don't think mine gives the model name any validity, since I don't have a model name decal either!
My first thought was that it was a Sprint, but then Cusqueno pointed out that he had a gold bike similar to mine which DID have the Wayfarer decal.
From what I've seen and read, my guess is that there were a number of near-identical models (certainly identical or near-identical frames) that got given different names, on the basis of their accessorisation.

Where are you based? We could compare.

Yorkshire.
But at the moment, all I have is a set of component parts: the bike is completely stripped down and awaiting powder-coating.

Bit of a trek then! Looks like we'll have to wait until DFR3.

Please take lots of pics of your rebuilds 'cos both bikes will look quite different then. Just like all the rest of our Viscounts in fact! Good luck with your rebuilds, enjoy your bikes and hope to see you both at DFR3. Cheers, Pete.
