Great thread. That's me in the red top in the centre of the group photo. I'll post some photos when I can work out how to. Can't help being a bit of a Luddite! Cheers, Velocipete.

Velocipete:
Lovely to see you on the thread. Didn't catch your name at the Death Fork Rally, and glad I can identify you now.
I'm in black to the left of you in the Rally picture, and you yourself are familiar with Blackshaw Head - just down the road from here!

Twas up in the frozen hell that is The Wirral yesterday picking up a 1954 Clifton bike. These were made in Birkenhead in small numbers and very rarely come up for sale. Promise not to sell a Viscount to make room in the garage! Cheers, Pete.

While I profess to knowing squat about English geography, I thoroughly enjoyed the word picture you painted in your blogs. Scarborough sounds like a great place. Best of luck on the move!

I've basically spent the whole winter in bike purgatory, slogging around North Yorkshire on my battered, unreliable and crushingly heavy British Eagle "mountain" "bike" and wondering why my chuffing legs ached so much: The Aerospace has spent the winter taking it easy in the shed. Which turned out to be the right decision as the British Eagle's bottom bracket has been turned into rusty scrap metal by a combination of road salt, gloopy mud and salt water. But I got the Aerospace out a few weeks back, as spring kicked in. And blimey it is nice to be riding it again. I know you all know this already, but it really does have that magic combination of comfort and sharp handling. The Aerospace's achilles heel has always been the gearing. If I want to go up a hill, I've got the standard 42 teeth on the front and 25 out back - and there are a LOT of hills round here. But actually it's been fine, more or less. There's a bit on the blog about exploring Troutsdale, a perfect little Alpine valley, round the corner from Scarborough: thelangsett.blogspot.co.uk/2015/04/troutsdale.html

Boom! The courier's just dropped off new 27 x 1 Panaracer Paselas from the States. I do like to keep my sidewalls clean, as it were. A less good development is a three inch long strip of rust and bubbling along the underside of the down tube, of the kind that makes you think "I hope that's not a crack...". The longer I own the Aerospace, the more emotionally fraught the relationship becomes; it was in good shape when I bought it (under the muck), so that means anything that does happen to it is on me.

Ouch, that must be nerve racking. I hope it's not serious, but if it is, can you get it repaired easily? Thank you also for the great blog story of the Troutsdale ride. Sounds quite lovely.
