That's interesting to see the finish on that NOS Titlist. I've always wondered why they go black over time...

Is that finish really anodising? It's got all the patina and class of a grimy freewheel! b

To be honest I don't know for sure, but since I've seen a few, I assumed they did an anodised version. Maybe someone can clarify?

My "Titlist" is chromed steel blades. That other mech, modesty forbids me to call it what I really think, looks to have bee sprayed rather badly with matt black paint. As far as I remember, you can't anodise steel, you plate it.You anodise aluminium. Cheers, Pete. Ps.When steel oxidises it goes RED!!! Rust.

Thank you, Pete. Whatever has been done to that mech, there are more floating about and I wonder what the purpose of the black one is.

Could be to try to match,or sell on, with a black group set.Only one colour for shiny bits, and it ain't black! Cheers, Pete.

I agree on the last point, but I have to say that I like the black Titlist FD somehow. Like the shiny one more, though.

Hey now, I can answer that question. It's the grimy black oxidized version on the Titlist. I was the only bidder when it was relisted and just got delivery today. They're all in quite nice condition. I couldn't pass it up. They'll go on a new project hopefully soon.
