For those who are not on the Viscount Owners Cycling Group on Facebook, Lewis found a beautiful vintage Viscount jersey that Cusqueno snapped up. My daughter said she'd be able to work with image and create the artwork needed to do a repro jersey. If anyone has a good lead for custom jerseys at a reasonable price, please let me know. There are usually quantity discounts to make it more reasonable so maybe that's an option if there is interest. www.facebook.com/groups/1824716324510011/Cheers, Michael

I'm working with www.bikingthings.com which is USA based on a repro version. It would be a modern fabric. So far communication has been very good. They do singles ($55) but if anyone is interested, the price goes down with quantity ($45 or less). I can post more details if there is interest.

Only thing is that shipping from US seems to be quite high to UK, and might not make it as attractive a deal

I did check the shipping with them. It's $22 to the UK, free in the USA. Price goes down to $45 with 2-6 jerseys. Hope that helps. I will give it a week or so before I order to give everyone some time to decide.
Cheers, Michael

Do they all have to be black to get the discount Michael, or can you have a selection of colours?

Do they all have to be black to get the discount Michael, or can you have a selection of colours? That's a good question. I'll find out. What did you have in mind? I'd consider switching if we get the discount on a mutually agreeable color. I can tell you we discussed such mundane subjects as zippers (full length or old school half length) and cut style (relaxed or fitted). I'm thinking full zipper for comfort and fitted cut where I order one size larger than my normal size. Here's the mockup that they proposed. Cheers, Michael image003

Hey Jem, word is we need to order the same color for the discount. I've requested a shareable color chart so we can choose. I'm thinking something in the dark burgundy family or possibly a charcoal grey (too close to black?) so the white lettering pops. Too many white, blue, red and yellow jerseys already in my closet.

love it.......I'm in for a full length zipper model, whatever colour is picked. Will look on the bikingthings web for a size chart.

Michael - ok, no worries. I will see what the majority go with. I'd rather everyone be happy with their first choice , as opposed to compromise just because black doesn't suit my eye colour haha

Here's the color chart they pdf'd me. It's a bit haphazard on one side with no ID. The other side looks easy to identify with a code. I'm thinking to stick with the original look as much as possible and stick with either 000, 80, 90 or 100 that are very dark grey/charcoal/black with white lettering. Full zipper works for me. They do a more relaxed fit or a more tapered fit. I'm 5'10" 160lbs and they recommended large in the tapered fit which I'm going for. If you guys in the UK want to save on shipping, you might consider everything going to one address and then distribute it from there. Just an idea. Once we decide on a color, I believe we'll get a final mockup and I'll pass along how to place the order for a group custom price. Cheers, Michael DSC09999 by itsthepitz, on Flickr

I’d be interested in this, however we should remember that we’d get charged import duty when they come into the UK from the USA. Any colours similar to Ruby Red? I’ll go along with the majority on colour though ( or even color ).

Just a thought.....if we have 4 customers we can still get the $45 price with 2 different colors if it's 2 for each color. I'm in either way even if I'm the lone one for the black or charcoal colors and everyone likes another color.

I've sent the following note to bikingthings to get a final design concept before I place an order.
Hi Carlos,
I'm going to go with 0,0,90 (dark charcoal) with the white lettering, and alternating white, dark charcoal, white bands on the color and edges of sleeves as in the images I sent. Also figure on a full length zipper and tapered fit. I guess the next step is the final design concept before ordering? The UK customers wanted to know if they could save on shipping if they order 2 or 3 and they go in one package to one address.
Thanks, Michael
Just a reminder, if you guys like a different color, I'll forward that to Carlos and if two or more order that color, it's at $45 instead of $55 for a single jersey. They will also advise you on sizing if you need help on that end.
Cheers, Michael

Latest update message from www.bikingthings.comTo:you Details image002.jpg (25 KB) Sure, here is the revised design. The outline of the viscount is still at 100 black. Let us know if it should be grey. Shipping to the UK for 1-3 jerseys will be $30 via usps so yes, it makes sense to buy more than 1 image002-4 I know franco, scott and whippet have expressed interest. If no one else from the UK is interested, can you guys arrange for one package to be shipped to one of you and then use local delivery if you are going forward? That would probably help on making the shipping cost more reasonable. I checked shipping prices myself and they are even higher if it came to me and I forwarded them myself to the UK. I'm going by online reviews and have no idea on their quality but I'm going to take a shot. If you guys want, I can let you know how it turns out with pics of course so everyone has a better idea on the quality before deciding. As for the outline of the text lettering, there is no need for a black outline with the charcoal grey color as per expert advise from my designer wife. I'm thinking to leave this discussion open until next Friday, July 3rd to see what you guys would like to do before I get my order in, but of course I'm flexible if we need more time to figure this out. Cheers, Michael

I spoke to the production manager today at www.bikingthings.com and got a handle on how to proceed. Since we have a geographically diverse group, everyone who plans on buying needs to contact Carlos by email at sales@bikingthings.com regarding sizing since they are all custom. They require your height, weight, and style preference (relaxed or tapered). You need to mention in the email my name (Michael Pitzer) and that it's for the custom Coventry Olympic Viscount Cycles jersey. Shipping is free in the USA. Once we have a count on how many jerseys, we'll know the final price. 2 -6 is $45, 7 or more drops to $40. They accept payment through PayPal or Venmo. UK shipping is through USPS and they can ship in one package to save on shipping cost if the UK crowd can coordinate amongst yourselves local shipping/distribution otherwise shipping is on the expensive side ($30). Please let me know if you have any questions either on the forum or as a message or email me at itsthepitz@aol.com. It will be full zipper, as you see the design images on my previous posts. Looking forward to wearing a nice repro Viscount jersey. It won't make it in time for this years DFR, but still lots of summer left to enjoy it this year. Cheers, Michael

Something for UK buyers to note is that we will probably be stung with import duty on these shirts. It regularly happens to me when my brother sends stuff from the States.

There is a 'work-around' here I can see. It's not breaking any rules or illegal but probably isn't want the HMRC import duty dept would want to encourage. I won't post it here but if you are interested then pm me

My original jersey hasn't arrived, although I thought that I ordered it on 5 June. I didn't receive any acknowledgement from the company and it appears that no money was paid from my bank account. So perhaps the transaction didn't go through. The shirt is shown as out of stock on the site. I have messaged them but don't hold out much hope, so I expect I'll be interested in one of these replicas.
UPDATE - the supplier says that the jersey was delivered to a pick-up place on 19 June. However, the tracking information shows that it was delivered to the Netherlands. I suspect my order was mixed up with another, but am not holding my breath that I will get it.

I’ve got my size from Carlos ( XL ). I’m a definite, so just waiting to see who else now. I’ll go same colour as Michael ( as closest to original ). I’m happy to coordinate delivery to me and then onto other U.K. members. However, we all need to know that we might get stung for import duty + that will have to be a cost we share if it happens.
