Jim, that was worth the wait, and the effort, to see those pics! Thanks for posting
I can just imagine losing a few hours in there lost in a job...heavenly! (I'm even conjuring up the smell in my mind)
Out of curiosity, what are the periodicals on the shelf on the left in the second photo?

That’s impressive Jim. It’s bigger and has more bikes in it than my LBS! Plenty of projects to be getting on with there

Whats on the shelf; that's not a simple answer. My wife and I have 18 large book cases in our house; four are for me, the rest for her. Among my books I have a large number of old periodicals. They mostly are about (what are now) classic sports cars and bicycles; I have little interest in new carbon bikes and electric SUVs. When my four book cases become full, something must go. What you see in my shop picture is where my overflow periodicals are stored before being given away. The periodicals in the picture are several years of Excellence magazine (about Porsche) from the 1990s. These will be soon given away. In my shop, I also have shelves with shop reference material. I very much enjoy working in my shop. The shop smells of solvent, oil, rubber and coffee; my wife says it stinks, to me it is wonderful. I usually am listening to oldies and sipping the coffee. I enjoy building bikes and giving them to family and friends. I also help my friends with their bikes and cars. I take my time; life is good.
If any of you make it this way, stop by. We can drink coffee and fix something.
Cheers Jim

Jim, one of the best features on your black Viscount Aerospace GP, in my opinion, is the Suntour Power Ratchet shifters. I have them on several bikes and have several more sets in various stages of reconditioning. They are at the pinnacle of downtube shifters.

It takes a sharp eye to notice the Suntour ratchet shifters; I like them too! They have a nice solid feel and less tendency to creep. Nice sets are getting hard to find. Dia-Compe ENE Down Tube Shifters are still made and are a new, good, ratchet shifter. I have bought several sets from VeloOrange. I also have used Rivendell Silver shifters. They also are nice ratchet shifters. Rivendell Silver Shifters

Jim, how do you find the Shimano megarange with its jump from 24T to 34T? I’ve ended up ordering one as the budget freewheel I bought doesn’t sound like it’s going to last long but it’s a pity they didn’t go from 28T to 34T in my opinion. Some interesting mods on your chain sets too, you’ve got plenty of low gears on both those bikes.

I must take meds that keep my max heart rate at 100-110. Thus, a lot of low gears. I climb slowly or not at all.
I agree, the 24-34 jump is extreme, but it is just a bailout. You can get the 14-34 on ebay. When you buy them online (ebay) the picture is not always of the correct freewheel and the individual cogs are not listed. This is misleading and I was mislead. I usually go for the 14-28 or another brand.
Cheers Jim

I’ve managed to get a small storage space for free rather than build/buy a new shed. I was a bit apprehensive about taking it on because it’s a green light to take on more projects. Saving grace is I’m busy with work at the moment so that is slowing me down. The Viscount collection is growing though.

Been up to the lock-up today with the Pursuit, I keep stuff there that isn’t currently used or needs work, it makes life easier at home to get bikes out I do use. Once travel restrictions are a distant memory I need to sell a couple of these and get the others complete. 4B0A2996-D141-4F80-9F9B-0AE6C3941A0F by Franco_AC, on Flickr
