I finally got around to uploading photos of my Dad's old Lambert. Just the frame. At some point he did a horrible paint job. I think he purchased it in 1973 or 4? When news of the bad forks emerged he replaced them with an all chrome set of forks. I have many of the original components.
Tell me what you all think!

Mine was far worse when I got it and now looks like a new bike still with nearly all its original components right down to the Saddle. Definitely a good project to rebuild it, mine was professionally resprayed at Bob Jackson’s and I’m glad I did that as they made a superb job of it in the original colours.
If you are not wanting to do anything with this bike and want to sell I’m sure someone on the site would be interested, I certainly would take it on that’s for sure......!

My frame was also much worse, but came up well. And I'd do it again if the frame size was right, and if I was looking for a Lambert...
With yours, the head badge tells a real story of the age which gives that touch of originality. That is something I certainly miss from a sparkling new spray & decal job like I'm doing now. Perhaps under the (re)paint there is more original paint or decals to discover, if it comes off easily.

Sometimes the paint has gone too far and you are left with no options but to strip it back and start again. I currently have a 1970 bike by JT Rodgers that I’m doing a sympathetic restoration too, the paint is chipped and battle scared but has rust so am keeping it and letting it show it’s age and life. It needs a few decals as hhenold ones in places have gone but others are staying, I would never be able to find more anyway. flic.kr/p/25cnyUJFollowing this I have a Diamond badged Birmingham Sun to tackle that was just bought this weekend. Not got the bike yet as a friend collected for me but will have it next week to assess and hope I can retain the original paint and feel of it all. Every project has its own needs, my 1939 Flyer has to be fully re finished, the seat stays needed replacing so a full respray had to be done, there was nothing left to save yet some will say I am over restoring it. I have collected over the last 12 months most period parts to the original catalogue spec including wood rims, the last being found this week. Yes it will be a Show Pony, yes it will be better than when new but at the end of the day it was destined for the scrap heap so why not. flic.kr/p/27iVNcy

No, I probably will just part it out. I already have too many other bicycles, I don't need another one. I should probably get out the components and take/post photos of them.
