to whom it may concern [from vfrman]; hi from usa, i received the gold bike from ebay from auction for 481 dollars. i bid a max if 1500; thought it would go for at least 6 or 800. to me, bike is in at least "good" condition [try to find another one]. i have all parts needed to make "perfect"?..nos blue toe straps, nos toe clips, lambert pedals[i dont believe it came with gold pedals; hard to tell from pic of girl with hot pants. nos downtube shifters, nos cable clamps, will install white leather bar tape, install new cables with correct outer color coating, new brake pads, new forks that look the same, nos dust caps, correct front derailleur, suntour rear, lambert crank and triple sprocket, nos handlebars, i have 2 extra good to excellent suede seats. just going to wipe down bike "carefully" with just water or honda cycle spray; not worth adding gold leaf or other add-ons; otherwise cant claim later on bike is all original. the bike is better than it looks on ebay; dont know why someone would have insulted the ebay seller with an offer of 100 dollars?!; then why are we all here? i have a mint reg harris with gold pedals, suede seat, excellent paint, gold calipers; picked out of england 3 or 4 years ago for around 500 dollars before shipping; ddnt even know what it was. i'm not in this for the money. the point is, some of these bikes now have been selling for around 3 or 400 dollars; a couple were listing for around a thousand dollars; most folks in usa have never heard of a lambert. i have 10 lamberts now, a couple of 10 speeds; i'll leave the viscounts for the rest of you [no offense]. will they be ferraris someday; who knows, who cares? it's the beauty; are the lambert's the first 15 speeds ever made; noone has answered me yet? i bought my first purple lambert in 72 or 73 when i was 15. very fast bike; came with brooks saddle. suntour on back, weinman front caliper. i can possibly have multiple lambert pedal dust caps reproduced if there is enough interest; will have some made anyway as i need some for resto. might install new shimano electronic shifters on one of my lamberts; dont wnna create sacrilege...there is a chrome lambert on ebay right now now that could be an ex-gold bike; i think he's been trying to sell it for a couple of years; why would someone chrome a bike for no reason. someone on this site mentioned there has to be chrome or something else under the 24 carat gold..gold has been selling for around 1300 dollars an ounce; is my bike a gold mine?!..[maybe should have it weighed]. [just kidding; am not in it for the money??!! we are all just caretakers; all our bikes will be owned by others someday]. one or more of my lamberts have "simplex" on rear. more to come.. i welcome any and all rebuttal [with respect of course] regards, jeff
