Hi, I'm new to the forum which is due to the subject line. I'm in south Germany and thought it was time to build up a viscount aerospace, similar to what I owned as a teenager in australia. In recent months I've learnt so much from this forum and other entries on the net, so signed up. Anyway I have started collecting parts for this bike as I do with all my bikes, rarely wanting to get a complete one but hunt down the specific or interesting bits. I saw the note that photos had to be stored externaly, so here is the link for 3 photos. Keen eyes may have seen these parts on ebay UK recently. Yes the beginings are crude, the goal is to use what I consider to be the special Lambert/viscount parts combined with other parts I like or think would be fitting. (like the quirky ax) I intend to respray the frame, viscount style but not silver. Does anybody know if these lugged steel forks are likely to be original? The brake size is identical front & rear. Actually I would much prefer to get the alum forks MK3 for this build. These appear to be rare unless you get a whole frame or bike. Anyway, let me know if the link works Cheers s1378.photobucket.com/user/Bykx/library/

Welcome to the forum Schrauber, hello from the USA.
Online, I use to play chess with a German. A very fine fellow. I should probably start doing that again. A move a day or whatever. It was at a leisurely pace.
Good luck in your endeavours.

Welcome Schrauber! I'm glad you've joined us. The link is working fine. Unfortunately Photobucket embed in forums anymore..otherwise you can link to them in this forum and it will show up in your post. It will be interesting to see the finished bike

Thanks for the welcomes! Are the forum members more based in the US than anywhere else?

At a guess, I'd say the majority are UK with the US not far behind. We have a couple from Australia. One of our long time UK based members is originally from Germany. The forum began because this thread here on CTC ,started by Busaste, was so long that is was difficult to find the valuable information after a while. Also, the thread just dominated that forum for a year or two and was never off the first page, so it was clear that there was a desire for a space of it's own. forum.cyclinguk.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=21010So, we we decided to just put something up to collect all the information that might be useful to Lambert and viscount owners. And as a focal point for organising the Death Fork Rallies and sharing photos from that event. I must say that Photobucket changing their policies and charging, has created a few problems because some of us used it and now we have 'gaps' in the forum archives. Also, these free Proboards forums only have a certain amount of space for pictures and we reached that limit quite a while ago, so everything needs to be hosted off site now. It is possible to pay for more, but the experiment with hosting adverts on here to pay for that extra space didn't work out as planned.

Some folks here have real collections of Viscounts, some have a fine collection of bikes, period including the Viscount/Lamberts (Lambert being the company preceding Viscount).

One last note, pardon for the redundant posts, let's not forget, for photos, some of us opened a free account at the pedal room ( www.pedalroom.com/ ) , free pictures, one may not need photobucket or similar websites. On the web, you have places where one can post photos of their bikes, velospace is a busy place, pedal room appears to still be a quiet place where one can stash photos away of their bike and there doesn't seem to be much of a crowd there. That is a negative too many people... but since most of my bikes are not fantastic nor are they fixed gear one speed bikes, mine have not attracted much attention. Pedal Room is very good for some purposes. Post the bike pictures there and then, link it from here. I hope that is all clear, I speak one other language, can read 2 more or less... so, it's not always easy to read what others may be saying or writing.

Thanks guys for all that information. The reason i asked about the location was to get an idea about finding parts which are within affordable distances (eu and UK). I have learned really a lot about these bikes from this and other sites, and to think i sold my viscount only after 2yrs or so in the late 80's. Basically i needed a mtb for my bush tours around canberra... Still i have the hubs, bb chrome spindle bolts and vs stem bolt. Cheers
