Hello all forum members, My name is Wim van der Meer. I live in the Netherlands, Spijkenisse near Rotterdam. I am a dedicated recreational cyclist and since a while I like to restore old steel bikes. I was happy to read about the Viscount & Lambert history and specially the death fork issue interested me. I joined this forum after purchasing a Viscount Aerospace Pro in, I believe, unused condition. After joining the Facebook group I was attended to this forum. I like to share the pictures of my bike with the forum members, hope a link to my Google Photo album & Facebook album will do the job. Aerospace Pro

I believe there is also a fact sheet at this forum to fill in the bike and part specs ? I will do that soon. Kind regards, Wim.

Welcome to the forum! Your Aerospace Pro is gorgeous! The Netherlands is renown for cycling, so it is good to have a Dutch member. I look forward to reading your posts. I live in California, where cycling (albeit popular) is less accepted.
All the Best Jim

Welcome to the forum Wim. That looks like it came straight from the factory. Do you know the story/history behind it and why it is in such good condition and unridden? Here's the link to the 'register' that Scott produced, which reminds me that I really ought to make the effort to catalogue mine on there..(it requires a Google account I think?) viscountandlambert.boards.net/thread/1071/viscount-lambert-register

Hi Wim,
Welcome to the forum.
What a find!
We would all love to know the story behind this bike if you know it, but the most important thing is - enjoy your bike!

Amazing new condition Pro you found there Wim! Do you plan on putting it out there for regular rides or keeping it showroom? Have you decided on riding with the "Death Fork"? I feel somewhat safe riding my Viscount with said fork when the bike looks to be hardly used with less chance for abuse and potential "curb jumping" and "pothole" damage. Great find, good luck with it.
Cheers, Michael

Hello all, Thanks for all the reactions. The bike was originally bought at a bikeshop in The Hague. The bikeshop is called "M. van Rijn Rijwielhandel" , started at 1937 and still in business. The older man from who I bought this Viscount still lives nearby the bikeshop and is moving to a small apartment, so he had no more storage space for his bike. He told me that he only used the bike a couple of times as cycling was not what he expected ?? I am planning to keep the bike as clean as possible and will make a few rides in nice dry weather. For so far it's a very nice catch for my collection and I will sure keep it for a while as I am lucky to have enough space at home ;-). Regards Wim.

Wim - I think a 'dry weather bike' is a fitting use. It really is just like it dropped out of a time machine from 1975 and I think heavy use in poor weather would be a something close to abuse. Hope you enjoy the ride. I wonder why the original owner didn't get what he expected from it? He has been storing in his flat since the mid 70's? Wow, that's a long time to have something sitting around in a small apartment. Jem

Stunning machine with a few tasteful period modifications. Thanks Wim for sharing it with us. Superb quality photographs too.
I fully accept that I am biased in favour of the Lambert/Viscount marques BUT, who could not accept that the VA Pro is a stunning looking machine that still cuts it even today? An absolutely classic British bicycle built to provide the masses with a slice of the rarefied world of high end machines for approximately one fifth of the price. VA Pros won over 100 races too!
What a great find in the Netherlands, one of the few countries outside the USA where Viscount sold any bikes at all.

I've admired this bike on Facebook; it really is a beauty. I'm glad you found it in such pristine condition - none of mine have been that well preserved (not even close). Enjoy!
