Hello, New member from Western Pennsylvania, USA. I'm 69 years old, first and last bike shop mechanic jobs wrapped around a 30 year engineering career. I recently picked up a (I think) Viscount frame, unfortunately repainted so it poses some really tough ID questions: lugless, Viscount style sealed bottom bracket, fully-sloping fork crown (original?), brazed on top tube cable guides (on top of tube, appear to be original), one set brazed on downtube water bottle mounts, and finally a scalloped top on the seat tube rather than a straight cut. Serial number 541714. Ring any bells? Resembles a V-7000 SS except for those darn cable guides. I'll try to get some photos up when I get my Flickr album straightened out. Best, J. "wheelson" Wilson

Welcome!
Just based on the serial #, it sounds like an early aerospace model, pre V series. I've got a 1976 model with a higher 6 digit serial # starting with 5 like yours. The Pro, GP and Sport models would have the sealed BB.Looking forward to your photos. We love photos on the forum!
Cheers, Michael

Hi, and welcome 'Wheelson'. Thanks for stopping by.
Could be an Aerospace, but, I think you are right though in having some 'doubts' concerning the brazed on cable guides. I am pretty sure the Aerospace didn't have those, but then again, I am not great with recall of detail like that. Others here might make the call based on description alone.
We will await the flickr pics.

Thanks for your comments. I just posted the flickr link in a new thread in the Photo Section. I'm looking forward to all thoughts on if this really is a Viscount Aerospace and, if so, which model. Best, John "wheelson" Wilson
