Just got home after a blood letting in Warwickshire, half an arm full! It,as everybody has said, was a great weekend. Shame it was in a westerly gale.I left before everyone else was up,no tent to pack, and easier than most.Definitely more training before the next ride. Just put up dates and I'll fit in. Well organised ride Rob,less hills please in future, and a good site Jem. How much had he priced the Pro at? Cheers, Pete.

My thanks to to Rob, Jem and the rest of the organising team. A very good day out. Although quite a long way to drive for the day, it was a straightforward route and we were back home by 7:30. Thanks to all for the warm welcome for Patricia and John Jr. Both seemed quite attracted to the idea of camping, so perhaps next year ...
Has anyone any thoughts for a 5.5?

He wanted £100, but I think we both knew that no-one would be carrying that much at a car boot, and I would have thought £65 would have been a good opening offer, and allowing for negotiation , maybe settle at £75? That is just my take on it, and maybe I am wrong and he wouldn't have taken a penny less, who knows? I did say to him however, that he wasn't a million miles out at that price, as I thought to shake my head and whistle and say "good heavens old chap that's a bit steep", would just be bad manners. I have seen similar go for less on ebay, and then some priced way over the top on 'buy it now' and never sell.

Has anyone any thoughts for a 5.5? Map my Ride offers this route if you ask it to plan a 20-miler from Clayton-le-Woods, Chorley, Lancs. Looks a bit lumpy to the East side of the M61 toward the Pennines, though, Pete. Screen Shot 2017-06-12 at 18.58.52 by RMT@261, on Flickr I'll let Jem research campsites, though a B&B in Chorley is tempting after this weekend's weather. (Very many thanks again to Lesley and Ray for accommodating us all in such fine style while the rain fell.) Why Chorley? Because, even if we have to wheel him out, Busaste can be with us! Does anyone have a preferred weekend in September/October? Train services to nearby Leyland from: London Euston (2½hrs, change at Preston); Birmingham New St (2hrs, change at Wigan); Manchester Victoria (1hr, direct); Leeds (2½hrs, change at Man Vic or Preston); and all other points on the Great British Railway network.

I cycle quite often in the area out around Mawdesley and Rufford on a 3-speed, and can vouch for the fact that, although there are inclines, they are less than we encountered on DFR5, so a ride out there may be good. There's always the option of a ride with a return along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal towpath for tired legs! Just a couple of pictures for now of DFR5:- Despite the use of Garmin and Map My Ride technology, some junctions still needed a good old chinwag about which way we ought to go and I couldn't resist adding this shot of the Market House in Ledbury, 'framed within a frame' and guess where the old girl has been today (Monday), and I've captured one of Britain's most iconic landmarks within the frame sunny Blackpool - well, not exactly wall-to-wall sun today, more like VERY windy!

Great to see everyone and thanks again to Rob for taking me around the course the next day - t'was very pleasant thanks Andy. I'm such a dumba**!
We sacked off our Sunday night camping and went to stay at the Feathers instead - nice place with some lovely beef which softened the blow of missing out on the faggots too!
Whoever has ended up a green camp-chair short we've taken it home for safekeeping.
Re the Boot-Sale Pro: at that price it could well be a cheaper option than restoring my current one - a better size as well.
I wonder though if it isn't a restoration already what with the silver rdged shield decals (rather than gold), lack of black headtube (with spikes), and colour matched front forks as opposed to death forks or plain recall replacements? Or is it just a different era Pro than the model I'm used to seeing?? Great that it was there though!

It also just 'felt right', and other than pedals, everything seemed right to me - and the saddle looked great and of the period, so bonus. If you want the guys numbers, let me know...

5.5 in Chorley?
Currently September - October are looking OK for me, apart from w/e 30-1st (wedding anniversary). Possibly also the following w/e because my birthday is on the 10th. Wouldn't bother me, but my wife might want to do something. Now my daughter has finished Uni, presumably I won't need to transport her and her goods & chattels anywhere during these months.
Chorley looks to be about a four hour drive from London, which is a bit too far for a day trip I think. But we have friends in Leeds who have asked us up to stay and Leeds is only about 60 miles away by road. 2.5 hours by train from London looks pretty good as well.
Would be good to get young Steve out.

As I recall, the frame is very similar in detailing to the silver aerospace frame I rode for sometime as my commuting bike, until the seat tube rusted through from the inside just above the bottom bracket and the stem seized into the forks. Same forks, no black painted head tube. But mine didn't have any model name on the top tube. Busaste has the frame at the moment - he investigated whether it is beyond economic repair (it is). Perhaps a potential donor frame for the Viscount tandem project?

I'm so up for a ride in Chorley! Camping on Steve's doorstep. I bet he'd love that. :-)
My phone is err broken. I mean the screen. It had played up already (sorry, Ray, it went back to no-selfie mode). I can't post pictures, but I have posted them on Facebook. No idea if Lewis can just share them? Need to get it fixed next week, so apologies for the delay in picture uploading.

Looks like I missed a great day. Wish I was there.......however unfortunately this clashed with the first rally of vintage Wilier Triestina. Here are some of my photo's (wasn't sure to post them in this link) www.flickr.com/photos/124853585@N02/albums/72157682366134263There were at least 50 ramata's (copper), 1 blue cromovelato & my green cromovelato. The giro started and finished at Villa Caffo in Rossano Veneto and took us out into beautiful countryside in the basin over shadowed by Monte Grappa. At the medieval town of Maristoca, we had the only climb of the route, 3km up to the Chiesetta della Madonna del ciclista, alongside 2 time Giro d'Italia winner Gilberto Simoni & a glass of prosecco. Finished back at Villa Caffo via Ponte degli Alpini in Bassano del Grappa & the Wilier factory in Rossano with a huge plate of pasta & litre of vino rosso. Goody bag was full of Wilier stuff and the organiser also gifted me a set of Wilier branded toe straps in red. What a day, all for 23 euro's. (excluding flights, hotel, bike box etc)!

Scott, your photos are great. The Wilier Triestina rally looked to be a much more select event than yesterday's Eroica Britannia: Eroica Britannia 2017 by RMT@261, on Flickr I completed the 55mile 'Sportsman' route, but I was absolutely spent at the finish. Too many hills (4,700 ft of climbing) and too much combined weight between me and my faithful Sebring for the hot sun and scorching (for the UK) temperature. Some lovely views, though: Eroica Britannia 2017 by RMT@261, on Flickr Eroica Britannia 2017 by RMT@261, on Flickr Eroica Britannia 2017 by RMT@261, on Flickr I think that Rona was planning to do the 100 mile ride. Massive respect to anyone who finished that yesterday (except the guy who passed me all labelled up in Eroica stuff on a thoroughly modern carbon road bike with brifters! Envious, moi?). I chatted with a couple of Viscount owners past and present, and invited them to come and look us up.

Yes, I made it around the 100 route. It was hot. It had some extra climbs this year. I suffered! I only saw one other Viscount out on the road, and it shot past, so not time for a close inspection. Carradice had one hanging up for everyone to admire though. I had a ride on a chopper. trying to sort pictures, not doing very well. EDIT - found a helpful post on these boards.scroll down...
