Just an idea.....on the where to buy page, one might see if any of those shops still exist and if they haven't squirreled away some original parts/bikes. Great find! I got lucky stateside with that idea.

Woodrup's is still here in Leeds (http://www.woodrupcycles.com/): Manufactures frames as well as being a general retailer.
Ben Hayward is still in Cambridge as well, or rather just outside: It's no longer on Trumpington Street, which is where I bought a Carlton Continental 5-speed commuter bike from them, back in 1975 (about £60).
Interestingly, considering the photos of John Atkins, I bought my next bike - a Raleigh Royal - from John Atkins Cycles in Coventry in 1983, having sold on the Carlton. The Atkins shop has since relocated to Leamington Spa (where I was living at the time).

A former work colleague who lives in Leeds, sometimes used to ride in on his Woodrup. It was a very good looking bike. I never rode it as he was about 4 inches taller than me so I could hardly reach the pedals never mind the ground!

The supplier's label on my Grand Sport: Untitled by RMT@261, on Flickr I dropped in one day on my way to my Mum's - the guy in Woodrups remembered the Viscounts as good bikes for their time, 'though they had a funny bottom bracket, didn't they?'.

I like the Viscount cycling cap in the above news articles, I have seen the Viscount cap here which I think had more white in it. The one in the article looks a bit different if I remember correctly.

I have this one, which I only wear on special occasions. I dare not wash it for fear of it being ruined. Camera Roll-757 by Sooper 8, on Flickr
