hi every one, My name is ollie, Just got a viscount for a crate of beer from a friend of mine.. To be honest i didn't even know what brand it was as it has no stickers or visible signs to identify it paint wise. Just thought it was a nice looking bike and would fit well into my random assortment of random bikes. After looking at the frame details and group set i quickly worked worked out it was a viscount, though what viscount i'm not really sure. At first thought it was a colorado gt because it being black with the crome lowers, though on closer inspection on a more detailed picture i had noticed that my bike had a far better group set and also then noticed the colorado wasnt fillet brazed, which mine is. so guessing my bike has seen abit of paint.. the build is - mavic rims weinmann canti brakes shimano dura ace derailler front and craine rear Steel forks but they look like the recalled versions olympic-64 pedals made in spain leather seat which i've seen in some of the marketing brouchers on the airospace pro sr stem and cranks and the rest is pretty un-branded ie, hubs, seat post (which is a beaut) and bars.. might even have the original tires. Ha, there knackerd heres some pics, any help woud be greatly received! Attachments:

Hi Ollie - welcome to the forum. I'm on my phone at the moment so pictures not very big but Aerospace Pro looks quite possible. The Colarado is lugged unlike this one. Hope it rides well!?

hi sooper, Don't really know yet, super excited to find more out about the bike, especially as everything seem super original, The cranks feel tight and the wheels have no play, don't think its been used for a very long time but still looks in great condition considering. slight buckle in the back wheel which i'll have seen to and i have 2 new 27" tires on the way. weather here has been crap but looking to get the coca cola out and clean up the crome and give the rest of the frame a good clean and polish. I'm surpised how light it is!
Just noticed aswell that the leavers have lambert stamped on them.. they feel super silky smooth! have a feeling this bike is going to be a dream to ride, as i said, very excided!
I'll keep you guys updated on progress.. does anyone else know of any areospace pros being black? i think it must of had a respray.
Is there anything that i should check thats abit of a design flaw with these bike befor i wiz down the hill?
thanks again!

It looks like a late-seventies Aerospace Sport/Pro/G.P. with the fillet brazed frame. There doesn't seem to be a lot of difference between these models. The 'suicide' brake levers suggest Sport or G.P., the Crane RD suggests the Pro, which was top of the range, but the Sport tended to be fitted with tubular tyres (tubs / sew-ups). The forks are original steel ones, so no worries there. SR bits, Weinmann brakes, Lambert levers (there must have been a BIG stock of those) and Olimpic 64 pedals almost certainly original. Likewise the wheels (Viscount or Shimano hubs?) Saddle looks as though it might have been trimmed? Probably Middlemore or Viscount-branded Middlemore, which would have been fitted originally. Unbranded seat post probably the Lambert/Viscount copy of a Campagnolo one. Worth checking, as with all lightweight steel bikes, that the stem and seat pin aren't stuck. Although if the bike fits you as it is and you don't intend to get it professionally re-painted, it doesn't matter too much. As it's so original, the bike will probably have cartridge bottom bracket bearings. These are standard industrial bearings, if they ever need replacing, but can be pigs to remove. I like the black, but probably not original for your bike. Enjoy! And bring it to next year's Death Fork Rally if you are in the UK. A bargain for a case of beer (Pete might disagree).

I most certainly do John. Viscounts take you to beer, not take it from you! Hi,ollie, welcome aboard. You've got yourself a good bike there.Don't worry about the paint job yet,get it on the road, ride it,then,if you really love it,I'm sure you will. Decide on the cosmetics. You're more than welcome on this forum, there is a vast store of knowledge here, mostly not mine! If you're in the UK and need bits, just ask,it's a self help community. You're also more than welcome on the Death Fork Rides. Photos when you do things please,'cos we like them. Cheers, Pete.

I agree, a great find. I particularly like the look of the sloping shoulders on the forks. I reckon you won't regret spending a bit of time and a few bucks getting it spick and span. b

Nice bike, great deal (unless the beer was very very expensive). Enjoy the ride!
