My weekend booked....plus if you are booking tent, the button image is me, with the Trieste top on. Is this my 5mins of fame?

Not sure if I will do it next year. My wife is very patient (she waited in a camper van in a car park with no facilities or cafe at DFR1 for 5+ hrs), and then at Eroica for 5-6 hours in June 2015. Also, the camp site is just a bit crowded for me - I feel a bit claustrophobic with so many people. I might investigate other nearby sites. The ride almost outweighs my negatives, and all the people are decent, honest bike loving folk make it a delight in many ways, but I am undecided at the moment.

Jem, I was lucky - this was the view from my tent on the Saturday morning . . . . . . no overcrowding due to arriving late, chatting to you for ages, and subsequently being allocated to the overflow camping area! It filled up a bit during Saturday, but there was always loads of room, unlike the mad-house overcrowding of the main camp site. It was a great event and a brilliant ride, and although I'm undecided whether to enter next year, I'll need to make my mind up well beforehand, as I'm sure places will be snapped up well in advance, due to the reputation of the event.

Both of you apply and if you are unlucky then your wife could do the ride, you could take in the delights of Tuscany? It's not far from Florence - an absolutely stunning City. Ooh, ah. Sort of want to, of course, but 2016 is CTC Tri-Vets, so can I manage two centuries in one month?

Have just booked, since I got offered a lift, it would be churlish to decline. Quite a lot of the Veteran-Cycle Club folk are going.

I am to be based in the Veteran-Cycle Club encampment this year, but I expect to go a-roving to meet up with my Viscount chums, and also some Billie Fleming Tribute folk. Am intending to ride the 100 again.

CTC Teesside Tri-Vets 100 miles completed in ten hours on Saturday 4 June. Eroica Brittania long route completed in 13 hours on Sunday 19th June. Very grateful to the guy who stopped to lend me a 4mm allen key, otherwise I would have been in difficulty as I had snapped my gear cable. Also had two punctures. Route changed this year, I think because of huge numbers of riders It was a tougher route, but I think perhaps a slightly better route. I feature in a couple of the videos: www.facebook.com/eroicabritannia/videos/516187155236551/ at Eroica – Saturday

Have agreed in principle to participate in Eroica 2017 with one of our bike mechanics at work and her husband/partner. They'll be on their tandem and I'll be on a solo, but it's doubtful we'll be on the same ride as I'd like to try the 100-miler.
Eroica is not based at Bakewell Showground for 2017, so the routes may be substantially different.

The 100 is much the same route, but you start at 9oclock instead of 3oclock, if you picture the route as a clock face, an oblong one. So you do the second half in the morning and the first half in the afternoon, if you have done the ride before. South first, then north, whereas before it was north first then south. Last year's route was tougher but better, I thought. I think the same applies with the 50 mile, broadly similar. The 35 is completely different
