I will try and summarise all the DFR3 info on this thread. Note - suitable for families etc. We don't race, and the most miles it's likely to be is 25, but still not confirmed route. Fairly flat, quiet roads. If you don't have a Lambert or Viscount but want to ride or meet up, then just turn up. About half way, stopping for food, drink, lie down. Date - Saturday 11th July ( 11am gathering, 11.30am depart - that gives 30 mins buggering about and circling in holding formation before take off, as previous tradition dictates) Leaving from Beehive Camp site car park, Rosliston (in between Burton and Lichfield) NOT to be confused with last DFR2 location called Rolleston. Address: Beehive Woodland Lakes Rosliston Derbyshire DE12 8HZ There is a limited amount parking there but it's free. There is a decent cafe at start/end point too. Staying over? Most people staying over are booked on above camp site. Note on getting here:For Sat Nav’s users use postcode DE12 8JD, wide vehicles avoid the narrow bridge at Walton on Trent, Sat Nav’s will try to direct you this way. Route - I have yet to fully 100% nail this down. I am struggling to ride this weekend. I had a dance related thigh strain this week (please don't ask, it's embarrassing) and wasn't up to it. But what I do know is that I have an outward route that I have driven. For the GPS folk , it is here. It is only 10 miles, and if I don't find a good return route, then we might just follow that back, but ideally I work out another slightly longer route back. I can see several potential different routes back but just wanted to miss out really busy roads, but not having ridden them I am not sure what the are like. This is the pub stop, which I can't vouch for food quality, but Trip Advisor reviews rate it 'very good'. If you can't make the ride but want to meet up then I guess we will be here about 12.30pm till 1.30pm in the beer garden. If I have forgotten anything then please let me know.

Thanks for the words folks, but it's really not much effort. I love the Rally. Even if the government grant, and the international junkets that go with the job dried up next year, I'd probably do it without renumeration...

Great effort Jem. Hire car is all booked, ready to pick Lewis up on route. We should be getting there Friday evening at some point. How about this or this slightly longer as a possible return routes? Although I have no local knowledge Things still to do: Get my but out and put a few miles in this week and more importantly pop to the cyder farm to pick up a couple of cases of Rattler.

Does anyone else keep remembering Rosslyn when they think of Rosliston? Rosslyn Chapel was the site of the denouement of Dan Brown's spirited conspiracy theory novel 'The Da Vinci Code'. I hope we will not be pursued by homicidal masochistic monks (possibly waving Death Forks?)

The first meet up was almost too hot. The tarmac was melting (I am not kidding); talk about sticking to the road!.... So, I would be happy with the above

I hope we will not be pursued by homicidal masochistic monks (possibly waving Death Forks?) It also features in Ian Rankin Rebus novels. Personally,I'd rather see a dislexic U.S. weather balloon, and start an alien invasion, conspiricy theory! Cheers, Pete.

I've fired up my old GPS. Jem, I'd be happy with those temperatures, too. Too hot ain't good for nobody.

No such thing as too hot to ride. But, alas, I won't be there. However you're only six hours ahead of me, here in Chicago, so I will host a brew and raise a toast sometime in the early afternoon, and trust that 1800 to 2200 hours, your time, is not too late for me to believe that you're all drinking too.
But seriously, too hot to ride would be something north of 40C. Otherwise, lather on the sunscreen, stay hydrated, and "Stay Calm, and Ride On."
enjoy the fun! Frank
PS Stella, I love your old GPS.

I've celebrated the first two DFR's by taking each Viscount for a little spin and plan to do the same this year. Just call it the remote satellite location DFR3 for me! Happy for you guys about good weather. Cheers to all

Just given my Sport it's usual rudimentery check over, mostly involving a quick wipe down with a rag. I've gathered together a load of crap(stuff to donate to them as wants it),mostly brakes, including 2 nos Lambert brakes.Somewhere I've got a bottom bracket spindle, but can't find it at the moment. Looks like we may be blessed with good weather, sun tan lotion duelly packed. Looking forward to another great gathering of the U.K. clan. I'm certain we'll drink a toast,or 3 to our overseas friends. I'm thinking we should put "International" in the forum name! Cheers, Pete.

On the beer front, I'll have a couple of spare pints, but if you're planning full on sessions ( as i suspect most are... ) it will be best to bring some of your own.

Hey! I'm arriving by bike, so I'm not going to carry lots of cans/bottles of beer or cider. :-P I'm sure there's a supermarket somewhere, or a petrol station, or whatnot to help me out on that front. lol
