Hello all, The camper van passed it's MOT this morning, so in 'celebration' I went to check out a camp site for DFR3. It's always delightful, surprising and a relief when a 30+ year old van passes it's test. I am glad I went to the camp site in person as I managed to get some concessions, plus I got the pitches all in a cluster, and I think it's all going to work out fine. It has showers, electric hook up if needed , toilets, washing up room, shop, tea room near by, and a barbers. It also has a Co-op near by etc. The parking on the day for those just coming for the ride is plentiful & free. It's in a nice quiet location. So, he is holding some spaces for us based on the last numbers I got when I asked on the other thread. I will get back to him within 2 days to confirm those numbers (so only people who haven't yet indicated if they are coming need give me the details here, or if you've dropped out since) If you said "i'm coming/tent/2 nights" or whatever, then no need to state that again here. It's a nice site I think, here is a link. www.beehivefarm-woodlandlakes.co.uk/index.htmlThere are posh camping pods too. Only administrative issue is that you individually need to book on line. I will PM everyone with those details later tonight. Do not book till I give you the details or it will confuse the guy trying to get us grouped together. Unless of course you don't want to be in an intimate little huddle with everyone else? Possibly because you know Pete snores very loudly, or Stella talks in her sleep etc, in which case feel free to book now on this link www.beehivefarm-woodlandlakes.co.uk/booking_request.phpIf this glorious weather holds up then I will take a ride in the vicinity of the site tomorrow and check the lay of the land.

So, I am going to mail later this evening regarding booking.
One of the issues with this site was that they require two night booking at weekends in high season, which in my experience is pretty standard practice- I asked for some leeway & if there were different bookings/people for Fri and Sat night, could we just exchange the tent pitchs and treat them as if it were the same tent/booking/person. He agreed to that. I didn't have the exact numbers with me when I went; also we still have a couple of folk undecided.
However, when I got back I realised that there are at present 5 definite tents on Fri and and 7 on the Saturday , we don't balance. The outcome of that is that 2 Friday nights tent people (that are not staying on the Saturday) will most likely be liable for Saturday night fee even though you are not staying. However, things might change and some folk might stay Saturday night, that haven't yet let me know.
We also have Kev in the motorhome just for the Friday and the same applies.
So, let me know your thoughts on this.
For info - a tent pitch (and van) cost the same whether it is 1 person or 4 sharing.
Do we have any masters of logical thinking that can work out how we do this puzzle without incurring extra costs?

My plan was to arrive Saturday and only stay Saturday night. I'm happy to change this however and pay for the Friday night too. After all, the beer may need a little while to settle.

Well, this is all sorted then as Ray just pm'd me to say he is fine with that too. Great stuff! I will PM details to all later

I have sent a PM to all those who I think were interested in this.
The booking for it is 'open', and after your first booking request, they get back within they day if mine is anything to go by, and then request payment.
Any problems let me know

Right, all booked in for 10th and 11th of July. Ticked the "awning" box which might be handy if we need somewhere to congregate / drink / fall over.

I filled in their form yesterday but have yet to receive a reply! I hope it's not lost in cyberspace and I have to fill it in again. It's a bit of a performance. Cheers, Pete.

Now paid. Will get the beer on order :-) Your awning will come in very useful Kev - Although, I am hoping this year that we will need it to keep the sun off, rather than the drizzle of last year. I have paid up too, looking forward to it. Not managed to ride around that area yet, but will start looking on Google maps for likely routes. By the way -Those people doing just one night, if you have any booking issues, then post up on here, as I think you night need to pair up with another person doing the 'other night' and book once and split costs. The guy said that was ok, but not sure if his computer system will say 'no' when it comes to booking on line. And for info - The site is at a place called Rosliston . This is not to be confused with last years site at Rolleston. For those coming by train - I think Burton is nearest but it's not as near as last year, we can always arrange to do a run in the van to the station if needs be. If you are planning to book, check your PM's above for the info needed. They are holding the places for a while to keep us all in one area of the site, which I thought would be easier, but if you miss this window , then you can still book, but might not be nearby, and then after that, you might not get on at all. So, I'd move on this pretty quick.

My motorhome awning is a bit small, I do have a separate 3 x 4.5m very heavy duty free standing awning but not that easy transporting it + the site owner may not like it.

If so, then you get a reply email within a day or so, then you get a confirmation email with a request to pay by phone. So, you won't have paid twice I doubt but, you may not have sent the initial booking correctly? I'd fill in the on-line again, (oh, and check spam in box) then see what happens.

Is DFR3 on July 11th Jem? I'd love to come along, if I'm not laughably late to the party.

I can't do links etc at the moment as I'm on iPad - It's not too many miles south of last years venue, and the camp site details ( if you're staying?) are on the DRF3 thread somewhere. I can pm you tonight with all that if you can't find it.

I'll have you know that I DON'T talk in my sleep. And if I did I'd speak English. :-) However, I do have a tendency to snore if barrels of beer are involved.
