www.ironman.com/triathlon/coverage/detail.aspx?race=princeton70.3&y=2014#axzz3DoHjqbYSDid my best to show off the Viscount logo and hoped some of the guys in my age group would come up and say, "Yeah, I remember Viscount. I've got one sitting in my shed. Just come over after the race and pick it up!" A fantasy probably brought about by a long humid day, and a bit of dehydration. Alas, I punked out and had to walk the last 100 yards. So close to running the whole way. You'll see the nice red jersey coming into view shortly after the 2:49 mark (6:39:20 ish on the finish line clock). Time to put away the carbon racer and go all Viscount.

Well done Michael. Ditch the carbon, might as well go for style as well as speed.

Great achievement. That shows a definite degree of mental toughness that no amount of training can gift you.
My hat is well and truly off to you! Inspirational!!
I just watched you go through the line...the jersey looks great!

Thank you guys for your kind words. I really think I could do the race on my Pro maybe only 1-1.5 MPH slower but I think pushing the extra 5+ pounds would cause me to start the "walk phase" of the run a lot earlier. I'm sure I'll do another sprint race on the Pro again in my Viscount jersey to show off the full look. Jem, what's crazy is right after I started this thread about someone having one in their shed, I read your thread urging all barn finds to come forward and it looks like I've connected with Ed in Pa. First the Mojave find and now a Philli find. Thanks!!! It felt great to pop a short ride the next day on my blue Gran Touring on a "recovery ride". Recovery for the body and mind and yes these long distance races do have a huge mental component when you're physically "on the edge" and trying not to go over. Back to Sprints next year.
