D3ZGCboTvYhZsTYa47QYNNf7pziUvO58 Hi Kevlar - welcome to the forum. The forum has reached it's limit for photo's and as such your picture isn't showing up.. The search feature on the forum here isn't great and might throw up hundreds of hits for 'Grand Sport' or it might not show anything, but I am pretty sure there must be a few examples on here. I think the deep blue is pretty much one of the Viscount colours that were used quite frequently. The age is perhaps better sourced off the components , and all Shimano parts have a date stamp on (often tucked away in hard to find places). But the best guess without a picture and date stamps are , let's see...1975? Won't be many years either side of that.

Do the decals on the bikes being discussed say "Grand Sport", "Grand Sports", or "Gran Sports". I am currently assembling a red Gran Sports and will post pictures in the next few days. I would like to see these other bikes for comparison.

I still have the 24" frame in blue if anyone fancies a project for a 6ft+ rider. Untitled by RMT@261, on Flickr Untitled by RMT@261, on Flickr

Interesting, what's left of my decal says "Gran Sports":
The frame is a fillet brazed Viscount alloy job with a threaded bottom bracket and protruding tubes (now cut out), serial number 762104. I don't know what components were on the bike originally. It looks to have been refitted a few times. I am replacing everything with the non-French components from a 1975 Motobecane Grand Touring, plus a Shimano cartridge BB. It might be finished today if I get motivated.
Oddly enough, I was purchasing the Moto for refurb when I spotted the Viscount in the seller's shed and bought the pair for $100. Later I discovered that the Moto has 1040 steel frame, unlike the Vitus alloy frame on my 1977, so I stripped it for parts. Many of the parts on the Viscount were worn out so I am merging the bikes and ending up with a nicely outfitted Viscount Gran Sports, a good-looking but heavy Moto frame, and a handful of decent parts left over from the Viscount. All in all, a good day's trading.

Brian, maybe the GRAN SPORTS was a US model that was produced in parallel with the UK GRAND SPORT model?
While we’re on decals, I found Velocals extraordinarily helpful, even from the UK, when they produced decals for my Victor and Sebring in colours to my specification, even offering options for the shade of gold surround for the head badge, so I’d be surprised if they couldn’t provide a black & silver version.

Rob, I think the UK/US idea is likely. Thanks. Brian
