This summer I built another Viscount. This one is not original, in fact it was built with spare parts that were languishing in my shop. Instead of the traditional white with red trim, this one is black with red trim; I find it handsome. It has a Sakae fork which is a bit shorter, and much lighter than the original; this steepened the head angle and made the old girl a quick handler. This little beast is fun to ride and came in at 20 pounds 8 ounces. Did I mention that it is fun to ride? It can be seem at www.pedalroom.com/bike/1976-viscount-aerospace-34868Cheers Jim

Very nice! It's always a good feeling to put something together from spare parts eh?
I'm with Pete on the gearing.

Very nice job Jim! Did you use Velocals? I've looked at their site and I'm guessing that's how you got the unique decal color combo. Which vinyl thickness did you use? Did you just peel and stick or did you apply some protective clear coat? I'm thinking I've got to also customize the color of decals for my Kiwi green single speed to make it unique like yours!. I'm hoping the top and downtube decals stick as well as the head badges on powder coat.
Cheers, Michael

I used the "High gloss UV-laminate finish (for finished frame)" without clear coat on the decals. I like the option of replacing the decals without having to refinish. The details, the decals are the Viscount Aerospace GP decal set (sku 820) with High gloss UV-laminate finish (for finished frame), Letter Color: Brick Red 603, Letter Outline Color: White 10, Background Color: Clear, Band Colors: Gold-white-chrome-red. www.velocals.com/viscount-aerospace-gp-decal-set-sku-820/The are easy to apply and I very much like the result. I think the Kiwi green with a custom color decal set will be fantastic! Cheers Jim

Those Velocals decals are as good as it gets. They made a Dura-ace decal for me years ago which was indistinguishable from the OEM one.
Fantastic bike Jim! Black and red frame looks sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cool and right on the monet for a mid 70's inspired paint job. My 'chicken legs' would love that gearing too.

Very nice build, Jim. Yup, a new fork will frequently lower the head tube a bit and steepen the angle. I like the result, it looks as if you do as well.
