Hello everyone, I've been poking around the site for a few months now and I just realized I never introduced myself. I inherited a Lambert and at the time knew very little about it. My goal is to restore the bike as much as I can. Here is a picture of the bike. farm3.staticflickr.com/2894/32773615803_a992627e32_c.jpgI believe only a few items are not original. Vance

Welcome Vance! Looking good. Good condition, not badly treated. It might just be a case of finding a modern saddle with retro looks or just find something actually from that era (not as easy as it sounds)
There's a good thread somewhere about what modern saddles have a retro look to suit these kind of bikes (I started the thread if that helps in the search) I have a Charge Spoon, it's comfy, looks good and was very good price from new. VO do some nice ones too.

Your bike has the proprietary Lambert aluminium forks, on the internet known as 'Death Forks'. It is worth checking these if you plan to ride the bike a lot. Mine has the 'Type 3' forks, which were Lambert's last attempt to get the forks right. They were afterwards used for several years on Viscount bikes. I have ridden the bike quite a bit and lent it to a friend for several months, who used it to commute every day from the outskirts of London into the City (about 13-14km each way - 8.5 miles), on tubular tyres (sew-ups), without any fork failure. This article goes into more detail about the forks. The Type 3s are generally considered to be safe and several other forum members ride them, but you must reach your own decision on this. Replacement forks are not difficult to come by, but might require bike shop fitting if they aren't exactly the right length.

Thanks for sharing the info, it is good to have. At this time my only plan is to restore the bike; I recently stumbled across an All British Cycling Group here in Minneapolis those guys have offered to help out on the project.

I like your Lambert; looks great! I think the Simplex is correct. Simplex was incredibly popular in my day; not much of it around today.
All the Best Jim
