In the process of swapping out derailleurs on my Stealth Viscount, the hanger threads got stripped. Tried using a claw hanger, but it was clumsy, especially when changing wheels. So I sourced a 10x1 tap from China on eBay for $6. Arrived in a little over a week and was surprisingly good quality, but the threads were too far gone. My alternative seemed to be helio-coil fix.... or back to the claw hanger. Instead I found a Wheels Manufacturing Drop Out Saver... again on eBay. Comes in 2 sizes for forged or stamped dropouts. I paid $18 shipped. You get a pair but only need one. Drill out the stripped threads, slide in the hanger saver and secure the derailleur. Took about 15 minutes and a good part of the time was spent looking for the correct bit size in my toolbox. Nifty solution.

I've used one of those drop-out savers. Works well but try to get as snug a fit as possible. Recommended to drill slightly small (make sure it's square) then ream out until the saver is a tight fit. Although I didn't bother and it was OK.
