Me too, but we have a full 12 months of training to get in shape. I was hoping the route would come North rather than South, not sure why, maybe because going South is further from home.

I see we need to enter a team name when we make our application on Thursday morning. Will 'Team Viscount' suffice, or would you prefer 'lambertandviscount.online'? It appears that most of the West Midlands' Freds will be poised to enter on Thursday morning. Rumours of an entry fee between £50 and £80 are doing the rounds on the internet. I suspect that the price will only be visible to us at the same time as the 'buy now' button appears. Your thoughts?

Having missed a trick yesterday by not realising my British Cycling membership allowed me priority access to apply for a place 24 hours early, I wasted 30 minutes from 0800 this morning before the organisers declared the website broken.
I have just received an email advising me to expect a new email at 1800 this evening that will have a new website link that should allow me to try to apply again.
Looks like they have put all their early money into the marketing rather than the booking system.
I assume that the standard entry fee this evening will still be £75.00 plus £3.50 card fee or £100 for 'priority' entry. It seems a bit steep, but I'll still try to enter, as I have no other costs to get there (my train season ticket will get me to the start and back).

I think that is beyond what I would pay...but will sleep on it

I think that is beyond what I would pay...but will sleep on it I think that they were relying on people's excitement this morning to carry them through the shock of the entry fee. Now that most folks have had a day to think about it, demand may be reduced. £75 does seem a lot just to have the luxury of car-free roads, and it could buy a good lunch* to nourish you around any of the classic free 100-mile routes that can be downloaded from the internet. Should we plan a DFR 'epic' 100-miler for 2017 for those who'd relish the challenge? *Edit: Or, I could buy three more Viscounts.

*Edit: Or, I could buy three more Viscounts. I'm thinking more of a quarter of a Fender Telecaster Thinline 1985 made in Japan...

Or a bit of a Burns Sonic, made in London. I know which I'd have. I know that the organisation for this kind of thing is expensive, but, where does the profit go? Cheers, Pete.

I have no idea what I am talking about, but just the sound of Gary Moore's 'Parisienne Walkways' made me feel 20 again in an instant. Thanks.
